I believe in The Mayimba Project for many reasons but mainly because as a soon to be social worker, I truly believe in giving voice to those less served and most in need. I truly believe in giving hope and optimism to those who have been kicked to the ground so many times before. With a slight push in the right direction and with someone to lend a hand, will prosper in all areas of life. The Mayimba Project to me signifies courage, faith, and promise. It is the same space where all warriors unite and make change.

Growing up I didn't have the best childhood, I've been witness to domestic violence, been neglected, but I've persevered and slowly am becoming the woman I want to be. I support The Mayimba Project because I believe it is a wonderful cause and I myself want to be part of something that helps others because everyone needs that extra push. In supporting the project I want others to feel like they have a purpose in life and to never give up on themselves.

After hearing from Amanda about this beautiful crazy very intelligent woman and what she had been doing, how she has been giving hope, courage, and a voice to people who are too frightened, too scared and too mentally weak a reason to stand up. letting people know its okay and i Hear you. I'll be your voice. Letting them know there is a brighter side and together we can fight the bigger battle that is really spoke of. She has been a voice to those people who can not speak on their own, a doctor to the weak, a strength that some have lost. I praise that women who stepped out and stood up when no one else would. i have myself have been a victim to many types of abuse, i know how hard it is to be able to stand and do the positive thing for my life as well as any dependents i might have its hard and unfortunately it will never be easy for anyone, but to have a voice somewhere else can ease your pain and perhaps give you the little push you need that extra step to stepping out and finally be the person on the outside looking in, "no longer the Victim" but the survivor. the story teller the helper the woman who once had no power now stands for a billion who still feel weak.. together if we stand little by little speak just a little bit more and reach out for the greater good, then we are able to bless the hearts and speak for the ones who no longer have the voice.. to them your rights and story and your VOICE will be heard.

I chose to be a part of the project for a couple reasons. First because after speaking to you (Marial) about the project, how it has impacted your life and seeing all those lives that you have touched. I felt like I wanted to help others in the way that you do. To be a voice for those that are scared to speak or for those that feel that have no voice of their own is a blessing. Second I myself have been a victim of abuse. At the time i felt like I had no one to talk to about it, and that I was alone in the world. Until I realized one day that my life has more meaning that to be unhappy. I have more meaning! So I changed my ways, changed the people in my life and stood up for me. No greater feeling than knowing that you over came such a hard struggle. I feel like if I can just help one person, one soul, one being, with overcoming their fear of standing up, that my voice had a purpose. Life isn't about just one person, its about all people. And I feel if we all stood up TOGETHER more people wouldn't be scared to use the beautiful gift god gave all of us. OUR VOICE!!! I hope to accomplish by being a VEGAS ADVOCATE OF THE MAYIMBA PROJECT is to spread the word that no one has to live unheard. That there is someone out there that will listen and help. I want everyone to know that you have the inner strength to over come all obstacles in this world and you don't have to do it alone. We are here!

I chose to be a part of the project because I want to help others to know it's ok to reach out, to speak up and not be afraid anymore. We are here to help those who believe and say, " I am no longer a victim!". I've witnessed this project change lives. I've listened to many stories and witnessed what they've gone through, and I truly believe that no one should go through that alone.

Lately, the only thing that me and people around my age see is violence, physical or mental. But no one dared to speak up, no one dared, no one had the strength to fight this. So I decided I should help them, I should speak up for them, I could be a form of hope. Even though a lot of people say that I'm too young, I know that ,if a person's strong enough, it can light a fire, with a spark of hope. So these thoughts made me want to support the Mayimba Project because this project was that spark for me. Mayimba helped me through one of my worst times and I want to be like her, help as many as possible. I support the Mayimba Project. <3

Growing up without a mother yet I was fortunate to say I was never taken advantage of like many in my position would. I had to grow up early and take care of things at home from a early age. Having more knowledge than the typical 10 year old I took care of my younger brother. Having to grow up and witnessing family members going through domestic violence has been rough. Having to go through it myself in a relationship even worst. I am a firm believer that you choose your happiness. Is it easy? No does it happen right away? Not even close. But like everything else in life that is hard work it will be worth it. This project screams to me in ways that you would not imagine. It hits home to me because when I was alone, I wanted to have someone to help me. Even if it was just to listen to me. That's why I want to help. To show people that you are not alone. Stay positive and you will attract it. Life is amazing if you choose happiness. Love and be loved. It's a amazing feeling

Warm Regards,
